This is not your typical cryptocurrency/trading blog that speculates on ‘moon’ projects and predicts prices.
If you are interested in the technical side of investing such as chart analysis or price movement, this blog is not for you.
This site is specifically about RealFi and DeFi… the real-use cases of blockchain technology… and how we are going to change the world with it.
Who is Mr RealFi?
My name is Jeremiah. I was born in 30 October 1990, raised in hot and humid, Singapore.
What Do You Believe in?
“The saddest thing I can imagine is to get used to luxury.”
Charlie Chaplin
Appreciation for the simple things, frugality and having the mindset of ‘enough’ is what I believe in.
Nothing wrong with Lamborghinis, but I do not subscribe to the ‘wen Lambo?’ mentality that seems to be affecting many people who are currently invested in the crypto and stock market.
I believe in:
- Working Hard
- Working Smart
- Having Patience
In that order.
Instead of spending money on a Lambo, I would prefer to research and invest in meaningful projects that would make a difference in people’s lives.
When Did You Start MrRealFi.com?
I bought the domain on 2 October 2021 and managed to get all the propagation and CDN routed by 4 October 2021.
Why Did You Start MrRealFi.com?
MrRealFi.com was started in the midst of my honeymoon, when my dad is in the hospital, in between a full-time job and part-time website I managed on the side (find out more about what I do below).
I felt there was a need to start this site ASAP because I believe projects with real-use cases is the next big thing – after the creation of the Internet and Blockchain technology.
- As an investor, I absolutely do not want to miss this opportunity.
- As a mere human, I want to be part of a movement that changes lives.
I believe in connecting the unconnected and banking the unbanked.
I trust that the heart of DeFi and RealFi is equality.
I believe that all of us should be treated equally without discrimination regardless of race, religion, age, nationality or geography.
On top of that, starting this site also inspires me to learn more about DeFi and RealFi simultaneously… something I am totally interested and do not mind spending many hours learning and researching.
What is Your Style of Investing?
Simple. I only invest in projects I have researched and understand.
I’m a more of ‘put all your eggs in one basket’ kind of investor.
Having too much on my plate confuses me… Ironically, diversification makes me more prone to panic-selling and/or fomo-buying.
I’m wired to focus only on a few projects at once.
Because of my temperament, I rarely have more than 5 projects/companies in my portfolio at any given moment. This is how I handle my risk.
If I see a project I like, I will invest heavily and wait patiently for it to bear fruits (even during a bear market or crypto-winter). That’s my style.
These are the three golden rules I abide to when it comes to investing:
- Do NOT time the market
- Do NOT short the market
- Do NOT use leverage
That’s it! Simple.
I believe that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Do You Do Short-term Trading?
Yes, I do trade albeit very rarely.
I’m not a fan of trading so whenever I trade, I trade only with less than 10% of my overall capital.
I believe ‘time in the market’ is more crucial than ‘timing the market’ hence I do not trade often.
I’m 95% investor and 5% trader. I guess you could put it that way.
BitCoin, Ethereum or Cardano?
It was used to be Bitcoin and then Ethereum. But at this juncture, I would say 100% Cardano.
- Bitcoin (Blockchain 1.0) is the pioneer.
- Ethereum (Blockchain 2.0) is the innovator and first market mover.
- Cardano (Blockchain 3.0) improves upon its predecessors and focuses on real-use cases that are outside the world of economics.
What Do You Have in Your Current Portfolio?
(As of 7 October 2021)
I owned World Mobile Token ($WMT) and Cardano ($ADA).
My portfolio also consists of Empowa’s Founding Community NFT – Number #770.
I’m waiting for Empowa public Sales in Q4 2021 so I can get my hands on some EMP tokens.
Which Cardano Stake Pool Do You Delegate To?
I’ve delegated all my ADA to EMP2 (Empowa – Proof of Africa) during Empowa’s ISPO to earn EMP tokens reward.
Prior to 5 October 2021, I was staking with KOPI pool – a local pool created in Singapore.
When Did You First Learn About Investing?
I first learned about investing during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) in 2008.
Back then, I didn’t have money to invest but I have read about how countless of average folks have lost their life-savings and how successful investors went broke… quite literally overnight.
I did not want that to happen me so I made an effort to learn everything I could about the world of finance and investing.
Books like The Big Short, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Too Big To Fail blended together making a flood of millennials, including myself, distrust the global fiat currency and centralized entities.
The GFC was the start of my journey… it was also the event that inspired me to learn more about decentralized finance (commonly known as DeFi) and blockchain technology later on in my life.
What Do You Do Besides Investing?
During my free time, I read, study ancient proverbs and curate meaningful quotes. This led me to the creation of GraciousQuotes.com. I started the site on 12 February 2020 purely out of passion.
I never thought a website like this could garner me a full-time income. A lot of these income are being reinvested into RealFi projects and Cardano.
Apart from that, I’m also currently working as a contract worker at the Health Promotion Board of Singapore (HPB) supporting local swab sites to combat COVID-19.
What Do You Think is Your Greatest Achievement so Far?
I was a smoker for more than a decade and finally managed to quit in May 2019.
To my surprise, the process of quitting so easy that I have decided to create a course to help people stop smoking.
I initially charged for the course ($499 per entry) but decided to take off the hefty price-tag so that anyone can access.
I just felt it was the right thing to do.
Opening the door to everyone has allowed me to help more than 500 people kick nicotine addiction (as of October 2021) and I’m incredibly proud of it.
If you are a smoker or know anyone who wants to stop smoking, please sign up for the course here: The Happiest Nonsmoker. It is 100% free.
All you have to do is enter your email and name to gain access to the entirety of the course. I do not want your personal details but the software requires it.
You can simply enter a fake name and email address if you are not comfortable sharing your personal information.
Last but not least, please do drop-by and say ‘hi’… I’d love to know who you are. Click here for my contact information or simply drop me an email: [email protected].
